Life is never easy. Exercise is good to me. Breastfeeding is good for my baby. But recent studies show that many babies turn their noses up at breast milk after their moms have exercised vigorously. Apparently, the exercise levels of lactic acid, which makes the milk taste sour. Levels remain elevated for at least 90 minutes. So by all means I will exercise, but I’ll try to do so immediately following feedings so that my baby’s next meal won’t be scheduled until those levels come down. If that isn’t possible, I’ll try to pump and store my milk before my workout, then feed the pre-exercise milk in a bottle when I am ready.
