As frequently said, prevention is always better than cure. As in the case of osteoporosis or the thinning of the bones which results to lack of bone strength or density, it is really difficult to treat such deficiency. Since osteoporosis is usually age-related, then, it is better to prevent it rather than cure it. While still young, try to avoid smoking and drinking which reduce calcium in the bones. Do not drink more than 4 to 5 cups of coffee and tea a day, and do regular but not excessive exercise. Take in foods or supplements rich in calcium, vitamin D, and phosphorus. Women at the post-menopausal stages may also engage in hormone replacement therapy per doctor’s advice.
