I have just read that vitamins cannot be synthesized by the body. Only vitamin D can be made in the skin under direct sunlight. Vitamins do not keep us awake, make us grow stronger, or become bigger. A balanced diet is essential in obtaining those mentioned effects. Vitamins have different functions. Some vitamins are fat-soluble which can be stored by the body and others are water-soluble vitamins which cannot be stored, and thus must be included in a balanced diet everyday.
