Months ago, I met a fortyish woman who told me about a very deep hurt in her life. Many years back, her cousin swindled her in a business enterprise that left her totally bankrupt. Since that time on, after an endless string of court cases in trying to get her money back, she had become a terribly bitter and depressed woman. One day, after almost a decade of not seeing each other, the cousin appeared on her doorstep, wanting to reconcile their differences. Her question to me was, “How can I forgive her after all she has done?”
